UL inks are for use with the Epson 2100 and the new CIS. These inks are pigment-based, and offer quite a close (but not perfect) match to the Epson ‘Ultrachrome’ inks. In a four-colour setup (CMYK) these inks can successfully be used as a substitute for Epson Durabrite inks in the C70 / C80 / C82 printers. You can find the best current information that we have for these inks in this and the sections listed below. RecommendationsPrior to installing any third party ink set, you should test your printer with OEM cartridges to ensure that you have a good printer; tests should include nozzle-checks, alignment routines, some general photographic printing - of course all results must be perfect! We are not currently recommending these inks be used with self-fill cartridges, or printers other than those noted in these FAQs. We were rather disappointed with these inks when we first tested them in self-fill cartridges, but were much happier on use with our first 2100 CIS. It seems likely that the colours we were able to achieve were limited by the type of sponge inside the third-party empty cartridges we had to test. Extensive UL MK Paper Compatibility Tests and UL PK Paper Compatibility Tests have been run. LongevityAt this time we have no firm information regarding the expected longevity of these inks on various papers. However, we are informed that these inks do have increased pigment content over previous generations of inks. Colour RenditionThese inks are a fairly close colour match to Epson OEM inks for the 2100 Printer. We have made some more suggestions on the results to expect in our Printing your colours right UL section of this FAQ. |
