PhotoChrome is the new pigmented ink from Lyson intended as another alternative for the Epson 2100 / 2200, 7600 etc printers. Also known as Lyson ‘Cave Paint’ in some parts of the world. Key Properties Please refer to the Lyson Specification Sheet (121kB in pdf format). Recommendations Prior to installing any third party ink set, you should test your printer with OEM cartridges to ensure that you have a good printer; tests should include nozzle-checks, alignment routines, some general photographic printing - of course all results must be perfect! Then, you should run cleaning cartridges through the printer, to clean out the OEM inks before installing any third party inks. We recommend that you try this ink in prefilled cartridges prior to committing to installing a CIS with it. In practice, this means you will take the following actions for a new Epson printer: - Test the printer with OEM inks;
- Use cleaning cartridges to purge OEM inks;
- Check you like the ink with prefilled cartridges;
- Prime the CIS with ink;
- Allow time for the ink to settle in the CIS - ideally overnight - before it is installed in the printer;
- Install the CIS.
Colour Rendition Once again, these inks are not close colour matches for Epson OEM inks. As such, you should expect to use the generic Lyson ICC profiles to start with, with the recommendation that you then get a bespoke printer profile made for your preferred ink and paper combination.
